The health of your business relies on you being healthy

The health of your business relies on you being healthy!

If you’re not healthy and strong your business won’t be either.

Your mental and physical health directly impacts your business…your business starts and ends with you!

When you’re tired you lack focus, productivity and creativity.

Eat cr*p and brain fog kicks in.

Sit on your ar$e all day and you start to feel even more sluggish. It’s true what they say – exercise gives you energy!

It can seem so hard to make time for yourself and your health when there are so many other balls to juggle but it matters…you matter.

Yes, you need to look after your kids, your partner, your friendships, your clients. But you can’t do that unless you’re looking after you first.

And yet this is the thing that so often slips to the bottom of the priority list – after cooking, cleaning, feeding the kids, getting them to and from school and clubs, managing all those bl**dy letters from school…and the rest! Yes, it’s a long list but it’s one that should still include time for YOU (and working on your business doesn’t count – even though you love it!)

You and your health should be at the top of that priority list. Because if you don’t feel vibrant, energised and raring to go how can your business be the roaring success you want it to be? How can you expect to give your best to your clients, your children, your partner, your friendships if you feel knackered all the time?

How can you expect your business to thrive if you’re not thriving?

You need to look after you. Easier said than done right? Well, here’s the top 4 things I encourage all of my clients to focus on to boost their energy, focus, confidence and power! None of them take huge amounts of time (cos I know life is sooooo F’in busy already) BUT each of them has a huge impact IF you commit to them.

Eat well

There’s no need for batch cooking or meal-prepping (unless that’s your bag) to eat well. Meal planning on the other hand can be super helpful and massively helps to reduce decision fatigue (you know…when you have no brain power left to decide what to cook for dinner…so you grab whatever is easiest).

The biggest impact happens when you:

  • Plan your meals around protein and veg, rather than piles of carbs (I have nothing against carbs btw – they are a FAB source of energy).
  • Aim for at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Minimise processed foods, sugars, caffeine and alcohol.

Move Well

I’m not (necessarily) talking about formal workouts but I am suggesting you move your body every single day in some form or another. Walking, kitchen-dancing, footie in the garden – they all count!

You know this already right? But when life gets busy this is often the first thing to slip.

So what can you do to ensure it happens? The first thing I always suggest to my clients is to put it in your diary – make an appointment with yourself and stick with it.

Sleep Well

There is no badge of honour for “getting by” on very little sleep. Not only does it leave you feeling tired, lethargic, and like your brain is on a go-slow but it’s really damaging to your health too. The hormone that our bodies use for cell renewal (think brain, heart, lungs, muscle…) gets released when we sleep.

And from my experience when you get your sleep sorted everything else falls into place – you have more brain power to make better food choices, you have more energy to move your body…you generally feel heaps better!

Aim for 8 hours a night and see the difference it has in your energy levels, digestion, productivity, focus and creativity. For my top tips on how to achieve this check out this vlog.

Me Time

The first thing to say is that time for you is not selfish.

You taking time for yourself means you’ll be a better mum, partner, friend and business-owner.

And like the other tips I’ve shared it doesn’t need to take huge amounts of time. Finding pockets of alone time, where you do something 100% purely for you will have a huge impact on your outlook on life. You will feel calmer and more composed. You will be able to cope with that massive to-do list without the overwhelm. Life will feel more in balance!
