My 2020 story (with very little mention of Covid!)

Well 2020 has certainly been quite a year – but not for the reasons you might be thinking (although they do, of course, play a part). This is my story…and I promise that there is very little mention of Covid!

This time last year

This time last year I was solo-parenting during the week after our transitional move to South Devon from Berkshire (it took us over 4 months to fully move out of our house in Berkshire).

I had consciously chosen to put my business on the back burner so that I could focus on settling my children into their new schools, hobbies etc.

I had no idea what 2020 was going to bring! If I’m being truthful, I didn’t even have plans to re-kindle my business

My 2020 story

Chapter 1 – Pivoting

In January I decided to launch some face to face training in the local parish hall. This lasted the grand total of 8 weeks before Covid hit!

BUT I was already working on my online business idea…Mr R and I pushed to get the FiTTRVie Members Club launched in time for the first lockdown. And we did!!

Isn’t it amazing what you can do when you have a deadline?

Chapter 2 – Investing (and learning)

In May I decided to invest in an incredible group coaching programme. This was a game-changer for me

I found my inner CEO

I learned a huge amount about marketing, sales and lead generation

I learned a huge amount about myself and what really drives me

I took huge action

And I saw huge growth – not just in my business but in myself too

All this whilst home-schooling and supporting all 3 of my children through what has certainly been the most challenging few months of their lives so far.

It was during this group programme that I realised where my passion really lay; helping clients on a 1-1 basis to feel flippin’ amazing. I launched my 1-1 nutrition coaching package and filled my books within a week!

I’ve since worked with another amazing coach (because I’ve realised that the power of investment is huge if I goals to hit!), I’ve found the most incredible tribe of supporters and cheerleaders and I’m starting to really reap the rewards of all the online networking I’ve been doing.

Chapter 3 – What a year!

Now we’re here at the end of 2020 and whilst it hasn’t always been rainbows and unicorns it definitely hasn’t been the sh*t show that it could have been.

I am ending 2020 feeling bl**dy proud. Not just proud of myself but proud of all my incredible clients too.

I end the year with a thriving online health and fitness membership, a fabulous free Facebook group (are you a member?) and working with the most amazing 1-1 clients. To top it all off, I am already taking bookings for clients who want to work with me next year.

But this year also comes with plenty of learnings. The biggest one being that I need to take a proper break from my business occasionally so that I can continue to be the kick-ass coach my clients deserve.

Chapter 4 – how fitness and nutrition kept me strong

This may sound a bit cliched but it’s true…you have to fill your own cup first if you want to be able to serve others. You have to prioritise YOU.

And this year has proven this to me time and time again.

Throughout the juggle that was home-learning and being self-employed (with no support from the government I may add) I continued to make sure that I made time (yes I MADE time) for regular exercise. As a family our nutrition wasn’t perhaps quite where I would have liked it to be due to the limited shopping trips BUT we did what we could.

Without continuing to focus on my health, and staying strong in body and mind, I honestly don’t think I would have stayed so positive through everything this year has thrown at us.

And I can safely say my business wouldn’t be where it is today without that focus either.

Looking forward to 2021

I could not be more excited for 2021.

2020 has been a year of change, learning, growth, challenges and confidence-building. And I cannot wait to take all of that into 2021 and change even more lives!

So this is me signing of for 2020 – time to rest and recharge for a couple of weeks so that I can hit the ground running in January

See you on the other side xxx
